It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Billy LiCausi, an incredible young man who gave much of his time and expertise to the Cummings Library idea lab. On January 19th, Billy passed away after a long battle with brain cancer. Despite his illness, Billy was very active in the idea lab. He often worked independently on video editing projects and also helped with STEM-related events. He was very involved with the local SPAM Robotics team and helped create a partnership between SPAM and the library.
In his original volunteer application, Billy wrote that he wanted to volunteer at the library because he enjoyed solving problems, learning new things, and wanted to expand his portfolio. His passion for knowledge was always evident in the idea lab. He was never afraid to try something new, whether it was experimenting with electronics or learning new software. We will miss his curious nature and kind heart.
We are grateful for the time that Billy devoted to the library and our heart goes out to his family in this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, his family has requested donations to SPAM. Information about making a donation is available on their website.
